Michael Kirby has been included in the interviews because he was Chancellor of Macquarie University (1984-93) and received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree following his retirement.  More recently has been named Macquarie University’s first “Emeritus Chancellor”. 

In his interview, Michael Kirby outlines his early connections with Macquarie University; his election as Chancellor; some of the problems that arose during his service; and the personalities who served alongside him on the University Council and staff in the 1980s and 1990s.
