The launch took place on Tuesday, 14 July 2020 at 5-7 PM AEST

Amongst the participants in the launch were Mr Julian Burnside AO QC; Director-General Francis Gurry of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, an agency of the United Nations based in Geneva; Professor Graham Greenleaf, Professor of Law at UNSW in Sydney; Professor Jeannie  Paterson, Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne; and other experts in law and information technology.

It is hoped that the new Society will enliven attention to the many issues of computers and the law that continue to face society in Australia and overseas. These include governmental and private use of mega data; facial recognition; and effective protection of individual privacy in the context of current technology. I was participating as Patron and had earlier been involved in anniversaries of the launch of the New South Wales Society of Computers and the Law.
