ACON 40 Hub - FIRSTS

The link highlights the event conducted on the 40^th anniversary of the establishment of ACON on 20 September 2025.  This included a session called “Firsts”.  It highlighted the activities of the Hon. Michael Kirby; Ian Roberts; and others as the first in their immediate group to have been openly identified as LGBTIQ.  According to Michael Kirby he was the first openly gay Judge in the history of Australia; the first openly gay President of the NSW Court of Appeal; the first opening gay Justice of the High Court of Australia; and the first openly gay identifying Judge of a final court of appeal anywhere in the world.
