An article on the recent criminal laws in Uganda by Zahrah Haider at the International Bar Association. 

These laws have introduced new and harsher penalties on LGBTIQ people in Uganda.  They have even increased the penalties by reintroducing the death penalty for certain cases of “aggravated homosexuality”.  It is expected that an appeal will be taken to the Court of Appeal of Uganda.  It earlier struck down earlier legislation.  However, this was based on a technicality concerning the constitution of the Ugandan Parliament at the time of enactment.  The law was adopted in Parliament by an overwhelming majority.  Only one MP disagreed.
