Anne Henderson has recently published a book Menzies versus Evatt: The Great Rivalry of Australian Politics”. On 10 August 2023, at the Sydney Institute in Sydney, the Hon. John Howard OM AC and the Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG, launched Anne Henderson’s new book on the rivalry of Sir Robert Menzies and H. V. Evatt. In terms of Australian politics, Menzies triumphed: being the longest serving Australian Prime Minister. In terms of influence on international affairs, Evatt was undoubtedly more effective. He also helped to spare Australia from the anti-Communist legislation which, ironically, would have damaged Menzies reputation for liberalism.
